About Lazy Automation

Born from Frustration. Built for Makers.

If you’ve ever needed an electronics component in a hurry — for a project deadline, a repair, or something you just had to build — you already know the problem. Local stores charge a premium. Ordering from overseas is cheap, but then you wait four to six weeks for a package to arrive from China. Neither option is good enough.

That was the experience that led to Lazy Automation. Founded in Melbourne in early 2026, we exist to give Australian makers, students, hobbyists, and professionals a better option: quality components, held in Australian stock, ready when you need them — not weeks from now.

Why “Lazy Automation”?

There’s a saying among engineers: the best automation is built by lazy people. Not lazy in the sense of cutting corners — lazy in the sense of being deeply motivated to find a smarter, more efficient way to do something rather than doing it manually over and over again. The most creative solutions often come from people who really, really don’t want to do things the hard way.

That spirit is at the heart of everything we stock. We focus on the components that let you connect, sense, and control the world around you — microcontrollers, sensors, actuators, modules, and the passive components that tie it all together. Whether you’re connecting an ESP32 to Home Assistant via ESPHome, building a custom automation system, or prototyping something nobody has built before, we want to have what you need on the shelf, ready to go.

Electronics and 3D Printing — Two Halves of the Same Build

Electronics components are the skeleton of any automation project. But every skeleton needs a body. That’s why we’ve expanded into 3D printing supplies — because the ability to design and print custom enclosures, mounts, and housings is what turns a working circuit on a breadboard into a finished, real-world object.

We stock PLA filament and 3D printing accessories alongside our electronics range, and we’re actively growing this side of the business. Our goal is to be the place where a maker can source both the brains of a project and the shell that houses it — without needing to order from five different stores.

Who We’re For

We don’t have a narrow customer in mind. Our customers include university students racing against project deadlines, hobbyists building home automation systems, professionals who need a specific component without a week’s wait, and curious beginners who are just starting to explore what’s possible with a microcontroller and a handful of parts.

If that sounds like you, you’re in the right place.

Proudly Australian. Genuinely Local.

We’re based in Hampton Park, Melbourne, and we ship Australia-wide using Australia Post. We hold stock locally on our most popular lines, which means most orders leave us within two business days — not six weeks from now.

We also offer local pickup by appointment for customers in Melbourne. It’s not a shopfront, but if you need something fast and you’re nearby, it’s an option worth knowing about.

Some of our more specialised products are available to order and may carry an additional lead time while stock arrives from overseas — we’re always transparent about this on the product page.

The People Behind It

Lazy Automation is co-founded and run by Faisal Karim and Fatima Parkar, with support from family who help keep things moving when orders are flying.

Faisal handles the day-to-day operations, product sourcing, and technical side of the business. He is currently completing a Master of Computer Science (majoring in Artificial Intelligence) at Monash University, which informs how the store is run, how products are selected, and how we think about what makers actually need.

Fatima leads the brand’s social media presence and content, making sure the Lazy Automation community stays informed, inspired, and engaged.

This isn’t a faceless warehouse operation. It’s a small, family-supported business built by people who use this stuff, think about it constantly, and genuinely want to make the maker space more accessible — in availability, in speed, and in approachability.

We’re Still Growing

Lazy Automation launched in early 2026, so we’re a young business. Our catalogue is expanding, our stock levels are growing, and we’re learning as we go. If there’s a product you can’t find on the site, or something you think we should stock, reach out — we mean it. This store is being built with the community in mind, and feedback from real customers shapes what we do next.

Thanks for being here early. It means a lot.
